War in Ukraine: Propaganda & Deceit Characterise Western Reportage
Western media repeats incessant claims of Russian targeting of civilians but when Ukraine target civilians & civilian infrastructure, barely a word of critique.
Our first post on Substack about Ukraine.
Let’s start by briefly picking apart the claims of an unprovoked Russian invasion. NATO, which as an organisation is deeply hostile to Russia, has broken promises not to approach the Russian sphere since they were made in the wake of the break-up of the Soviet Union in the 90’s. This alone, is absolutely a provocation.
But since the Biden backed, CIA/NED coup in Kiev in 2014, Ukraine has been provoking Russia constantly. Using NATO supplied artillery often manned by extremist right-wing fascist elements of the Ukraine armed forces, Ukraines armed forced have been shelling Donbas civilians ever since. For eight years straight. Most of the western public has no idea. These Russian-speaking Ukrainians attempted some self-determination in the wake of the coup & this started a war in the region that has had devastating consequences. The idea that all this is Russian propaganda is beyond weak. These are facts of history that put the present conflict into context.
More on how the CIA/NED fomented the coup in Kiev below from Kit Klarenberg. Prior to the coup, relations between Kiev & Moscow had been reasonably good. All the trouble in Donbas, the Crimea annexation & the shoot down of MH-17, likely in an attempt on Putin’s life, all occurred after the Kiev coup.
We have established that Russia’s actions in Ukraine were definitely provoked. Only dismissal of this as Russia propaganda can refute it. Now we can consider Russian targeting of civilians.
The Washington Post published this almost exactly a month to the day of Russia’s invasion, making it clear that Ukrainian tactics were exposing civilians to incoming Russian missiles. The Kiev missile attack incident referred to here occurred within two weeks of the initial invasion.
“They are just hitting residential buildings in these areas,” said the Ukrainian parliament member, who arrived at the scene shortly after the explosion two weeks ago. “You can walk around, you will not find any military targets, or any military people. This is just terror.”
Yet a few minutes later, the whooshing sound of Ukrainian rockets fired from a multiple rocket launcher startled residents staring blankly at their destroyed homes. Then, another outgoing barrage. The weapons seemed to be nearby, perhaps a few streets away, certainly well inside the capital.
Increasingly, Ukrainians are confronting an uncomfortable truth: The military’s understandable impulse to defend against Russian attacks could be putting civilians in the crosshairs. Virtually every neighborhood in most cities has become militarized, some more than others, making them potential targets for Russian forces trying to take out Ukrainian defenses.

Since the invasion, AN has looked into at least five well publicised incidents the western media has claimed are evidence of Russian targeting of civilians. All five were suspicious. The Bucha massacre was the result of Azov types murdering Ukrainian supporters of Russia in the town, which is why many victims are wearing white armbands, indicative of support for Russia. Kramatorsk train station was struck by at least one missile fired from Ukrainian territory, not from Russian territory. The Chavis Yar apartment block was full of soldiers, not a single civilian was seen either assisting or being recovered. The Chaplyne train attack was the same, there was no sign whatsoever of civilian victims on the train, no bodies, no luggage, nothing.
Russia also used a drone to film some Multiple Rocket Launchers firing from open ground but then driving back to park undercover at the rear of a sporting goods store at Retroville Mall before a Russian strike destroyed the lot.
So, all five of these incidents described by Ukraine & the western media as deliberate targeting of civilians or civilian infrastructure, were either false flag Ukrainian attacks against her own, false narrative's or at the very least, of suspicious narrative.
Now of course, we have at least two incidents of Ukrainian terrorism targeting civilians or civilian infrastructure. In August Ukraine terrorists exploded a car-bomb in Moscow targeting a Putin ally but killing his daughter by mistake. Then just the other day, several more innocents were killed when Ukrainians exploded an enormous truck-bomb on the Crimea bridge.
So let’s look a little bit more closely at each of these five incidents in turn.
First, the Bucha Massacre. Here we have a Ukraine media report from around the time the western media claims images show Bucha littered with dead. For some reason, this article fails to mention them. That's because the teams sent in to clear out Russian supporters killed any they found, left them in the streets & Sky reckons Russia dunnit.

The SAFARI team employed a drone but were still unable to spot the dozens of corpses that Sky News & the rest claim that Russia had left behind & were all in situ for at least a few days if not weeks. The mainstream media even produced satellite images showing these bodies & the dates they were laying in the streets. How SAFARI managed to scan the entire area with a drone without spotting the bodies seen so easily by satellite, is a mystery to us…
Kramatorsk is a difficult one to untangle because there are definitely dead people at the scene. If you decide to look into the incident bear in mind that some of the images of the scene are distressing. We have instead presented an image that is said to show victims but we suspect these are crisis actors. Our guess here at AN is Ukraine performed an attack that killed several, perhaps half a dozen or so, but the incident was ramped up by crisis actors to make it appear much worse than it was. And then pinned on Russia.
One thing is for certain, the missile said to have struck Kramatorsk station came from the direction of Ukrainian forces & not from the direction of Russian forces.
We at An are trying not to traumatise people with distressing images but in order to illustrate our concerns, in some cases, it’s necessary. We have censored the image from Kramatorsk below. It shows an individual decapitated by the missile at Kramatorsk station but this person has died in situ without any blood draining from the body. This is utterly implausible, & it suggests the body was placed where it was photographed. We have an uncensored copy of this image which we are not posting.
There are certainly some very convincing images of the Kramatorsk incident. They definitely do appear to show genuine victims of some sort of explosion. Unfortunately, the narrative surrounding the incident is full of anomalies. Kramatorsk is a tricky one to untangle. But the anomalies are suggestive of a staged or partially staged incident. AN spent at least a week assessing the incident & all we can be sure of is that the narrative is suspect & any missile that did strike the site clearly came from Ukrainian forces, not Russian. We could write an entire post on Kramatorsk alone.
The media reported an attack on civilians at Chavis Yar. An apartment block full of civilians was apparently targeted by Russia. The only problem is, there's not a single civilian at the site, either assisting or being recovered. Only soldiers.
A second image presented by a Ukrainian news site also shows a soldier in camo fatigues being recovered from the site. Again, no civilians are seen either being recovered or assisting in the recovery.
The same anomaly appeared with the official reportage of the Chaplyne train strike. No evidence whatsoever of civilian victims is shown... AN heard the train was actually full of soldiers, mercenaries from Syria, western military advisors & equipment. Not civilians.
So we have the Bucha massacre, performed by Ukrainians fascists but pinned on Russia. We have the Kramatorsk train station incident, that appears to be partly genuine but also suspicious in a variety of ways, & likely an attack by Ukraine on her own refugee civilians. We have the Chavis Yar & Chaplyne attacks, one on an apartment block being used by the military & the other on a civilian train also being used to transport troops, foreign mercenaries, advisors & military equipment.
Four incidents so far.
Russia also used a drone to film MRLS, Multiple Rocket Launcher Systems, firing from open ground but then driving back to Retroville Mall. They are then parked up at the rear of the Sport Life store where they are probably being re-armed & maintained. Shortly afterwards, a Russian missile strike destroys the Sporting Life store & at least four MRLS parked undercover, round the back. The western media presented this attack as one on a civilian mall without any recognition that the site had been militarised.
There are clearly at least four MRLS visible in the Russian drone footage of the site, taken shortly before Russian missiles hit.
EDIT: AN has now attached the video showing the MRLS being deployed then returning to Retroville mall now that the feature has appeared on Substack.
As an aside to this, we at AN looked into the MH-17 incident & decided that the claims by the west that pro-Russian Donbas so-called separatists shot the plane down are suspicious. The Malaysian airliner actually looks extremely similar to the plane President Putin uses. From the ground, at great distance, even with powerful military binoculars, it would probably be very easy to mistake these planes for one another. AN suspects that Ukrainians armed with Russian anti-aircraft missiles shot down MH-17 by mistake in an attempt to bring down Putin’s plane. Even western media accepts that Putin was due to overfly the region at the time.
Now, when the western media presents stories that Russia has targeted civilians, we at AN are less than convinced, without even having to investigate. These five incidents, Bucha, Kramatorsk, Chavis Yar, Chaplyne & at Retroville Mall, already show that the western media is roundly deceiving the public, mostly through obfuscation of the full story & full facts. Truth, of course, always being the first casualty in any war.
We have little doubt that any proper investigation of attacks said by western media to have been on civilians would show the narrative is at the very least suspicious if not shot full of anomalous holes. We encourage anyone with the brains & the interest to investigate carefully any claims by western media, usually parroting either Ukrainian government claims or western intelligence services.
As far as AN can tell, Russia is trying to avoid civilian casualties. When one considers the “shock-&-awe” US campaign against Baghdad in 2003, it’s clear that were Russia to remove her gloves, Kiev could easily have been on the receiving end of the same level of missile attacks.
But Ukrainian tactics of human shielding mean that inevitably, civilians in militarised civilian areas can be subject to retaliatory strikes by Russia. Unfortunately, even with the best of intentions, civilians are often caught up in war. That Ukraine is committing war crimes by staging military kit, even MRLS in Kiev streets & at malls, is hardly going to help keep their public safe. In fact, we’ll go further… seeing that the WP has presented evidence of Ukrainian war crimes going back almost to the day of the invasion, AN reckons this tactic is deliberate. Either it will deter Russia from responding to outgoing missiles for fear of striking civilians or it will draw Russian fire onto civilians which will aid the propaganda effort. It’s a win-win strategy. Staging military kit in civilian streets & malls, housing troops in civilian apartment blocks & transporting them using civilian trains (even ambulances) is a deliberate win-win tactic for Ukraine.

Yesterday Russia struck a market place apparently killing 16 or 17 civilians including a child.
The enormous blast was caught on CCTV & I assessed several of these video's last night.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, I discovered an anomaly. Within a second of the blast, to the top left hand side, several flashes can be seen. These "secondary explosions" are the sort of thing seen when a missile or bomb hits a storage of munitions or shells. This is strong evidence that the market place was, as has been obvious from Ukraine's tactics from the start, being used to store/hide war materiel.
The Sun conveniently zooms in & The Time video is slightly longer.
This is still pretty grim viewing so discretion please people!
I do not condone attacks where civilians are at risk but that's exactly why Ukraine engages in human shields. If it deters Russia, that's a win. If Russia strikes & civilians are killed, that's a propaganda win. Hiding behind civilians is a win-win for Ukraine.
